About Me
Hi! My name is Ysa, I'm a 20 years-old English major college student that enjoys sacrificing sleep for reading, I review books through Goodreads and Instagram. I live in the Philippines, where the climate is tropical. I enjoy binge reading books that catch my interests, mostly Asian books.
I explore and read books that are: Young Adult and New Adult that contains romance, fantasy, contemporary, and sometimes, thriller.
I prefer reading diverse books as I am a person who prioritizes proper representation in the books that I consume. Some Asian authors that I look up to the most are: Rebecca Kuang, Sabaa Tahir, Marie Lu, and Yangsze Choo. I also look into the representation of books with LGBTQ characters and mental health, because I feel connected with them.
All ARCs that are provided to me are guaranteed to be reviewed after I read them on Goodreads. Some ARCs that I love are also featured on my Instagram blog with my review and a graphics edit.
I finish 5-10 books a month and am mostly a fast reader especially if I am immersed into the book.

Only a Monster
by Vanessa Len

Me at 2 a.m after finishing this book: my therapist's gonna hear about this

This book was one of the books that I underestimated and actually turned out to have exceeded my expectations. I loved every element and trope that was inquisitively embedded in this book, starting with the refreshing and original plot. Tbh, I was expecting this fantasy book to be some sort of patched-up plot lines from various YA books, but it was totally distinct and original that this had me excited and gripping at the edge of my seat every page as the events started to unfold. I could not put this book down, especially during the climax until the end. The plot was exhilarating as more plot twists began to uncover, and I've never been this as much as stirred from a fantasy book because it's so rare to find an utterly distinct book that has a riveting story these days. I tend to guess the plot early on in most books, but this one has been a complete conundrum. Going to complain to my therapist about the crumbs I got for Aaron, though, and why is he a second lead when he is, clearly, the hotter male lead? We need Joan's eyesight checked. I could not care less about Nick and Joan; they are bland and has no chemistry at all. Come on.. give me all the Joan and Aaron scenes in book 2 when this pairing serves amnesia tope with lots of pining in book two; y'all gonna see the serve.

Thank you so much to Netgalley and Hodder & Stoughton (my bestie for real!) for providing me an arc of this book for an honest review of this gorgeous masterpiece!

The Girl Who Fell Beneath the Sea
by Axie Oh

Screaming, crying, throwing up right now. That was so beautiful! Gorgeous gorgeous girls read The Girl Who Fell Beneath the Sea. This isn't even released yet but I wanna gatekeep it so bad. I'm never getting over Axie Oh's fascinating storyweaving about the Water God and its bride. The perfect flow of the story felt as if I was watching Tangled, the one Disney movie I enjoyed so much, blended, of course, with Spirited Away. It's as if I'm transported into summer, doing nothing on a slow afternoon but watch Studio Ghilbi movies with my favorite cold drink. May I add that I also adored Mina so much! She's my girl for real! She's brimming with confidence and is decisive with her choices.. yea, that's my girl right there! I would also like to point out that I didn't particularly liked the concept of the red string of fate but I actually did love it in here? Idk, but it's probably because the red string isn't inseverable, It can be made and cut to their own will, which depicts that the people don't let what was tied to them to be their fate. It was a good symbolism. My 2nd book which I rated 5 stars for this year, and I hope isn't my last!

Thank you so much to Hodder & Stoughton (my bestie fr) for providing me an arc of this book in exchange of an honest review!

Hotel Magnifique
by Emily J. Taylor

I have been searching for books that will make me feel like Stephanie Garber's writing when it came to Caraval and OUABH and this book did not disappoint. Right off the bat, we are already bewitched with the hotel's magic, which is totally fascinating. I enjoyed reading all about a magical hotel that always moves, as well as magicians and how their powers work. I think the author did a fine job defining and setting parameters on the world of magic for Hotel Magnifique. The explanation of how the magic worked was nicely written. However, I did not like the romance aspect of this book so much. Idk. I just did not feel as much as chemistry between the two leads, and the male lead's name kinda ugly (i'm sorry, i know it has an explanation for his name) I think the book should've just focused more on the healthy siblings relationship because it would've been better and we've seen a lot of siblings in this book. I think the author is obsessed with sibling relationships, and it was also nice to see them anyway so I'm not complaining. Overall, the book was an enjoyable read and it had its intriguing elements with the hotel's mystery which made me want to finish reading it quickly.
